Adaptation: Frank Orr reports that, "We are in the process of engaging both pre-service and in-service teachers in a project that is a state initiative involving the training protocols from START, action research, and environmental studies related to the major watersheds in the state of Georgia. The project in Georgia is called "Restoring Our Waters" or ROW, and is in the infancy or organizational stage at this point. The project will be very collaborative among the higher education institutions, business community, and schools districts throughout Georgia. We also are working with Southern Illinois and the river project curriculum developed at that institution."

Adaptation: I am teaching a seminar course this semester and I require presentations to be made using PowerPoint. Students used this module to create PowerPoint seminar for the classroom for their content area.

Modules: Searching for Information on the Web
Adaptation: My marine biology students did an online search on various marine ecosystems (salt marsh, mangrove, reefs, etc.) and six teams (each comprising of 3 students) will give seminars based on their findings using PowerPoint in late November.

Modules: Creating a Professional Portfolio Using PowerPoint
Adaptation: This period focused on how to create PowerPoint presentation using the information gathered during last month's web search training module. Six teams (each team of 3 students) started to create their presentations on their designated marine ecosystems. I plan to conduct OLE Online Research Expedition on Dec. 7 with these students.

Adaptation: My marine biology class ended this semester with the online research expedition module. This period was built on last month's PowerPoint workshop. All undergraduates presented their research findings on their designated marine ecosystems. They also evaluated relevant web resources in the process. Almost all agreed that they learned a lot from these workshops.

Adaptation: We held two 2-hour workshops in the afternoon to familiarize participants with the basics of web page design and with the concept of electronic portfolios. We modified the learning cards slightly, but otherwise used the same format that we had at the START training session.

Audience: The audience for this training was a group of 18 in-service elementary teachers from Midway Elementary School in Milledgeville.
Modules: Creating a Professional Portfolio Using PowerPoint
Adaptation: This group of teachers completed the professional portfolio learning cards and, after five hours, left campus with a beginning draft of their portfolios, which some used for their annual evaluation submission.
